PCOS is an enigmatic disease with the most common symptoms being irregular menstrual cycles and ovulation leading to infertility in many cases. We created a PCOS Tracker, a free app for women to track their PCOS symptoms, and as it completes one year, it is now helping more than 19,000 women stay aware of their condition. We had a Q&A session with PCOS expert Dr. Carolyn Alexander of Southern California Reproductive Center and reproductive endocrinologist Dr Aimee Eyvazzadeh of Egg Whisperer Enterprises to discuss questions related to irregular periods, periods pain and associated infertility. We were joined by a community of patients and well known PCOS advocates to guide the discussion and the panel also discussed the most common questions asked by women tracking their PCOS symptoms such as: How to get rid of monthly pain? I have had irregular periods for the last 5 years, periods getting delayed by more than 3-4 weeks. What can I do? I want to conceive? How do I do that with PCOS? How can I overcome PCOS without using pills? Is intermittent fasting a good idea to help with PCOS? Can you suggest how to cure my PCOS?

Acute respiratory distress syndrome or ARDS is a very serious complication for many patients suffering from COVID-19, and is believed to account for about 80% of the deaths in ventilated patients. There is no proven or FDA-approved treatment for it, other than oxygen therapy, including use of mechanical ventilation, and fluid management. Literature from previous studies with mesenchymal stromal stem cells (MSCs) support the idea that MSCs due to their anti-inflammatory activities may have the potential to improve management of COVID-19 related ARDS. Dr. Nimesh Desai, principal investigator of the study, explains the action of MSCs and the trial investigating the effectiveness of the stem cell therapy.

June is men’s health awareness month, when we aim to increase awareness of preventable health problems and early detection/treatment of diseases among men and boys, and encourage them to seek regular medical advice. We talked to Dr. Jamin Brahmbhatt, a board certified urologic surgeon specializing in chronic testicular pain and infertility, who discussed relevant men's health issues and shared his suggestions on improving overall men.
