Meet a refreshed Applied Informatics team embodying empathy, excellence and grit! The Applied team caught up for an uber cool retreat at Goa, India. Team members from across the globe came together to let down their hair and enjoy some quality time together.
This March we were at the Kenilworth resort in Goa – a fabulous place full of peace & calm and the freshness of the Arabian Sea by the side. The 4 days were packed with great interactive sessions, bonding & reconnecting with colleagues, getting inspired by external entrepreneurs & executive speakers and brainstorming for the future.
We got an overall view of what different teams are working on and how we are contributing to the bigger picture in the health industry.
We got the opportunity to listen to Dr. Armen Kherlopian, Chief Science Officer at Genpact, talk about the possibilities of machine learning and artificial intelligence and what the Ethics of AI entails. Dr. Kherlopian’s work focuses on gaining value from data via Data Science, Advanced Analytics, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and Digital Transformation.
The Founder & CEO Future Today Inc, Fawesome.tv, HappyKids.tv, Alok Ranjan took time off his busy schedule to talk to us sharing inspiring stories and emphasizing on three key values of empathy, grit and excellence – to keep in mind while working as a part of a larger team to enhance productivity.
We also got to learn from Lisa La Luna – Senior VP, Corporate Development and Innovation at ePharmaSolutions and one of the founding members of ePharmaSolutions (ePS). She shared her learnings from her 27 year long life science career and her experiences as an industry leader in providing eClinical solutions to sites, sponsors and patients to expedite the clinical trial process throughout the world.

Can You Spot The Fish Here?
We also had a great time at the Creative Design workshop with our Chief Creative Officer Aziz Rawat, who drew a simple fish on the whiteboard, gave it the right twists and flips, and finally dressed it up with “sides” bringing out the narrative behind every little design our design team weaves through while designing a product.
…Can You Spot The Fish And The Fish Seller?
This workshop highlighted the importance of layering the design with concepts that makes it easy for the users to connect with the product. It gives voice and character to the product for people to believe in it. This workshop allowed each one of us to come out with our creative sides, design a product and put it out to people, in a manner that made them feel connected with the product.
Beach Hackathon
Hackathons are in the genes of our company, literally! The very foundation of our company was laid when our founders Dr Chintan Patel and Dr Sharib Khan participated in hackathons by Google Health and Microsoft HealthVault – 2 patient connection platforms in 2008. Our tech team had great mind churning fun with hackathons organized by
our Chief Technical Officer, Chintan Patel on the sea front.
We are back to work refreshed and inspired to keep testing ourselves by pushing our boundaries…and look forward to another thrilling retreat coming up next year!
