Our Cure Panel Talk Show on YOGA debuted on Tuesday 22 April at 6pm EST. The expert speaker on the show was Dr. Sat Bir Khalsa, Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He is also the Director of Research for the Kundalini Research Institute and Research Director of the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health. Dr. Khalsa has been practicing yoga for over 35years. He is a Kundalini Yoga instructor and directs an elective course in Mind-Body Medicine at Harvard Medical School.
Dashama, Char Grossman, and Micheline Toussaint supported Dr. Khalsa on the panel. The show was co-hosted by Sharib Khan and the topic of discussion was,
Benefits of Yoga on Managing Stress and Lifestyle Diseases
The show started off with Dr.Khalsa defining what yoga means to researchers and how it encompasses not only the physical elements as in physical postures but also includes the relaxations and breathing techniques along with meditation. He mentioned that many people may argue that meditation is the most important aspect of Yoga. Research has proved that yoga has therapeutic effects and its popularity is growing among the general public. Over 20 million people actively practice yoga for wellness.
Dr. Khalsa touched upon the limitations of yoga research aka funding in response to panelists’ question and also went on to discuss effect of yoga with Char, Dashama and Micheline.
The expert and panelists answered quite a few questions submitted by our participants and even tried to explain if yoga was safe for myeloma patients.
