Paranoid Schizophrenia: Seeking Relief in Colors

One of the most common subtypes of Schizophrenia is Paranoid Schizophrenia.

As per Medical News Today, patients suffering from paranoid schizophrenia, have false delusions. Auditory hallucinations is also a common symptom, wherein voices are heard – all of which is very real for the patient, but it is all actually imaginary. Megalomania i.e. false delusions of grandeur are an oft seen symptom.  Paranoid schizophrenia is capable of completely incapacitating a person in his daily interaction.

A chronic illness, sufferers of paranoid schizophrenia need lifelong medical treatment and support. All the above mentioned symptoms, sounds terribly disturbing, for a layperson. I mean, one wonders, if at all it is possible that a sufferer of paranoid schizophrenia can lead a happy and wholesome life. Yes, they can.

Parijoy Saha, an artist from Kolkata, India, is one such person who is seeking relief in colors. The pace, at which he has done some of his paintings, has got him the distinction of being the fastest painter in the world!

Sharing his views with the news channel IBN, Saha says,

 Had I not got this option of doing these paintings, I would not have got any satisfaction in my life. I would just have been depressed about my disease.

Who says, creativity and happy survival is not possible, if afflicted with a debilitating disease like paranoid schizophrenia? The artist is one such shinning example. All it needs, is love, care and proper medical intervention, and last but not the least, a willingness to battle the demons within.
