Counseling – One of the most important parts of treatment for depression is counseling. In case of primary or mild level of depression, several counseling sessions can be very effective method of treatment, even without administering anti-depressants. Psychiatric counseling is conducted by developing an interpersonal relationship between clinician and patient. After building up the interpersonal relationship, treatment is started through dialogue, conversation and behavioral changes. The counseling or psychotherapy is normally performed to learn about exact cause of depression and to find suitable solutions to problems. However, this method of treatment completely depends on the ability of the psychotherapist for curing depression.
