Improved Security, SSO Login & Transparent Communication among new features on iConnect V 4.2 Release for NYU

by Harmeet Kour

We recently went live with the latest TrialX iConnect release v4.2 on NYU Langone Medical Center which included enhanced account security by imposing strong password rules and SSO authentication for study team members.

Enhanced Account Security

iConnect allows participants to sign up as a volunteer and get access to the dashboard from where they can see a list of Matched Studies; from here, they can send a referral to the research team and based on eligibility, can get recruited. Now, these accounts are secured with strong password rule integration. The password complexity for account login has been enhanced providing greater security for all users including investigators, administrators, and volunteer registrants. When the user sets the password for the account, the password must meet the complexity requirements that have been set for an account.

Single Sign On Authentication Process

Single sign-on (SSO) is an authentication process that allows a user to access multiple applications with one set of login credentials. SSO is a mechanism, where a client accesses multiple resources whereby a single action of user authentication and authorization can permit a user to access all systems where he has access permission, without the need to enter multiple passwords. Admin can add either a new user for SSO, or an already existing user from the iConnect system for SSO. An invitation is sent to the users, so that they can set up their password and login to SSO.

Transparent Communications

The My Messages feature has been enhanced to enable more efficient handling of participant messages/referrals for transparent communications. This is achieved by providing a common view to all members of a study team, which reveals if any replies have been sent to a new participant. The intent of this is to give users an easy method for processing new referrals, while avoiding duplication of effort.

More about iConnect

iConnect is a platform that helps in connecting patients with the researchers to perform clinical trials and research studies with the aim of translating findings into new, more effective treatments.

iConnect EDU is specifically designed to promote patient recruitment for academic medical centers or universities. It allows researchers or study team members conducting medical studies to develop new diagnostic so as to improve current standards of care, communicate with interested participants, and monitor recruitment metrics.

By participating in clinical trials, patients get first access to potentially lifesaving treatments which can be combined with other therapies or as a valuable option in first-line therapy failure and advance new knowledge that will help future generations.

We will be back with more updates from the iConnect team.
