Listen to Dr. Sat Bir Singh Khalsa and Dashama on The Cure Panel Talk Show below:
On the first Cure Panel Talk Show on YOGA both Dr. Sat Bir Singh Khalsa and Dashama discussed interesting and relevant information regarding yoga. Dashama opined that she had seen many in the course of her practice benefit immensely from yoga, when combined with lifestyle changes. Dashama hoped that it would be taught in classes very soon and be more widely available to a wider audience. Dr. Khalsa directs an elective course at Harvard Medical School in Mind-Body Medicine, but feels that they are still a long way off from having medical experts offer yoga-based solutions to their patients for their various ailments. It is this very reason Dr.Khalsa believes that more mind-body effect of yoga research needs to be done.
Boston, according to Dr. Khalsa is the hub for yoga research. A lot of work is being done here. But a lot more needs to be done, so that enough critical mass can be acquired. Why is the critical mass needed? It is needed so that there is enough justification to include it in every day medical therapy; and this is the only way that the benefits of yoga can be more widespread.
Dashama is a firm believer in yoga and its positive benefits. Taking this belief forward, she will soon have a program/contest ‘the biggest loser’. What is the program all about? As per Dashama, it is how with the help of yoga, a person will be able to lose the maximum amount of his/her ailment.
As one can see, there are so many believers of yoga practice, so why is not more yoga research happening? Lack of adequate funding is the reason.
So while one hopes that more funding pours in via federal agencies and even private donors, till then why don’t you give yoga a chance?
