I had the honor and privilege to speak with Dr. Alan Russell the other day about disruptive science, medicine and health care. He mentioned a new publication he is the Editor in Chief of entitled the Journal on Disruptive Science and Technology. I am so thrilled that the field of medicine, through which I have waded for nearly a decade, finally seems to be taking some major steps forward. It is indeed a very exciting time for the health sciences.
Professor Alan Russell announced the publication of the new Journal on Disruptive Science and Technology will launch in 2012. As Editor-in- Chief, Dr. Russell notes that “his journal will provide a custom-designed forum for the publication of breakthrough science and engineering that has the capacity to dynamically improve our society.” [1]
Dr. Russell and I were both remarking how technology takes massive steps forward every month it seems, where as medicine lags behind usually by 10 – 20 years. Innovative journal’s like his others will help to change that. The first issue of the Journal on Disruptive Science and Technology is due out in early 2012.
Another journal I often browse is PLoS Medicine which is open source and published by the National Library of Sciences.
If any CureTalk readers out there know of other cutting edge journal publications, please comment share about them in the comments section.
