The CDC reported the highest cases of measles outbreak in the US since 1996. 118 cases have been reported since Jan 2011. Of the 118 cases, 89% were from patients were were unvaccinated and 89% were associated with importations from other countries.
Measles can result in pneumonia and even death. The measles, also known as rubeola or morbilli, is an infection of the respiratory system caused by a virus. It is a highly contagious virus that infects 90% of people in close proximity to an infected individual. In the 1800s, a fifth of Hawaii’s population were killed by the measles, and thousands of years ago, the virus wiped out 33% of large populations living in Europe.
It simply makes sense to get vaccinated. I know there has been a lot of controversy surrounding vaccines, but these are simply crazy and not true. The other day, I read that vaccines have heavy metals and other poisons deliberately added to them to cause harm to the recipient. Googling “ingredients in vaccines” for example, results in a tidal wave of fear and false claims.
- First off, vaccines are weakened strains of the actual virus. Our bodies are exquisite biological machines and when presented with a foreign object, our immune systems naturally produce specific antibodies that attack and rid our bodies of these intruders. Many viruses are so strong (like the measles or polio) that our bodies can’t efficiency fight them. We humans are also smart and so have developed vaccines that act like boot camp for our immune system to prepare them for the real battle with the actual virus. After a few shots with a weakened virus, our body’s immune system develops a permanent memory of exactly how to fight and git rid of the actual virus.

Each 0.5 mL dose contains not less than 1,000 TCID50 (tissue culture infectious doses) of measles virus; 12,500 TCID50 of mumps virus; and 1,000 TCID50 of rubella virus.Each dose of the vaccine is calculated to contain sorbitol (14.5 mg), sodium phosphate, sucrose (1.9 mg), sodium chloride, hydrolyzed gelatin (14.5 mg), recombinant human albumin (≤0.3 mg), fetal bovine serum (<1 ppm), other buffer and media ingredients and approximately 25 mcg of neomycin [an antibiotic]. The product contains no preservative.
There are no heavy metals listed here like Mercury or Aluminum, nor is there aspartame or formaldehyde. There is no reason to put these chemicals into a vaccine. Why would the pharmaceutical companies who are so concerned about making money, waste their materials on poisoning you, their customers? This kind of thinking does not make logical sense nor would it be good for business. And as a biochemist, I am certain that buffer and media ingredients are salts and minerals by the way.
- Lastly, many people have long thought that the MMR vaccine caused autism, but you know what, that study was recently proven to be a massive fraud!
So what is there to worry about? I strongly encourage you to have you child or yourself vaccinated with all vaccines that we have developed today. Vaccines are a perfect melding of science and our own biology that targets the root cause and results in long lasting protection against horrific viruses.
