List of Postpartum (Post Natal) Depression Clinical Trials Investigating New Treatments

Postpartum depression, also known as Postnatal Depression, is a type of moderate to severe depression in a woman after she has given birth. It may occur soon after delivery and in some cases last up to a year later. It usually occurs within the first 3 months after delivery. Postpartum depression can make the new mother feel restless, anxious, fatigued and worthless. This may translate into being worried that the mother will hurt themselves or their babies. Unlike the “baby blues,” postpartum depression does not go away quickly.

Clinical trials for Postpartum Depression

Clinical Trials are medical research studies that are performed to study the effect of a new treatment under development or to compare it with other existing treatments (read more about Clinical Trials). Clinical trials for postpartum depression are an important step in the development of new treatments and 17 such clinical trials are currently active in the United State for postpartum depression. The 17 postpartum depression clinical trials are across different phases of research investigation (read more about what the different phases of a clinical trial mean and how they differ).
