Sinéad O’Connor, an Irish singer-songwriter who achieved achieved worldwide success in 1990 with with her song “Nothing Compares 2 U” was diagnosed with Bipolar disorder in 2003 at the age of 37. She has attributed her depression to growing up in an abusive household, and it got worse as she became famous during her 20s, culminating in an attempted suicide when she was 33.
