Metastatic Cancer refers to any cancer that has spread from its primary location to other organs of the body. Many cancers end up spreading to other organs and metastatic cancers are more difficult to treat and require chemotherapy regimens as localized surgical or radio therapy options are not usually effective.
Clinical Trials (medical research studies) are an in important step in the development of new cancer treatments. There are 113 metastatic cancer clinical trials currently active in the United States. Approximately 210 interventions are being tested in metastatic cancer clinical trials. Of the 113 trials, 25 trials are in Phase I (means very early stage drug testing), 33 trials are in Phase II and 19 clinical trials are in Phase III. Below is a summary of some interventions, clinical trial researchers and investigators, cancer research medical centers/sites.
